At LogiPharma USA 2026, Swisslog's Garrett Freeman explains how onshoring, geopolitical risk and a shifting product mix are driving supply chain automation.
According to Garrett Freeman, sales director at Swisslog, the business case for automation in pharmaceutical supply chains has changed. Speaking with Pharmaceutical Commerce at LogiPharma USA 2026, Freeman says that before the COVID-19 pandemic, the main drivers for automation were efficiency and labor reduction. Now, he says, companies want "resilient, redundant supply chains" while also expanding overall network capacity, a theme he heard echoed across the conference.
